Even before the racing started at the Red Bull Air Race in Budapest, British pilot Nigel Lamb had something to celebrate: his 52nd birthday. Surrounded by his wife and children, Lamb claimed to live by the old adage that you are only as old as you feel. Age certainly seems not to be slowing Lamb down this season as demonstrated by his fifth place finish in London."I am 21 year up here," said the Zimbabwe-born pilot, pointing to his head. "But I am a lot older everywhere else."The Red Bull Air Race pilots celebrated Lamb's anniversary with a large birthday cake although it was not entirely clear whether they had all fully understood the ulterior motives that lay behind Lamb's generosity. "This is all going to help me with my weight problem," said Lamb. "So please, if all the other pilots could have three or four portions I would be very happy."Lamb is the third oldest pilot in the Red Bull Air Race Championship, just two months younger than local legend Peter Besenyei and 10 months younger than defending champion Mike Mangold.http://www.redbullairrace.com
